Justin Burdette

Hi! I'm Justin Burdette! I'm a professional guitarist of 22 years and I've been teaching for 15 years. After picking up the guitar in early highschool, I obtained a Bachelor's of Music Performance degree from Southeastern Louisiana Univeristy in 2010.

As a performer, I've played in nearly any musical situation imaginable - worship music, dance bands, original heavy metal and hard rock bands, solo fingerstyle and classical recitals, classical guitar ensembles, jazz big bands and small jazz combos, country bands, and much MUCH more. Above all, I am in love with all things music, from today's top 40 to the most cerebral jazz and classical music and anything in between.

As of 2022, I'm currently playing as: Co-lead guitarist in Baton Rouge based hard rock band Empowered, Lead guitarist for Jefferson Babtist Worship Team, Lead guitarist in the King Creole Orchestra, Lead guitarist in New Orleans based Datband, Leader and founder of the Justin Burdette Trio jazz ensemble, and Lead guitarist with Ashton Gill.

As a teacher, I bring this wealth of practical, real world, performance oriented knowledge to the student. I enjoy taking students from right where they are and helping them cultivate a love for the instrument and music in general, while allowing them the freedom to choose their own path. I specialize in music theory and ear training, teaching my students to critically hear and understand music.
